About the Musical
Our story follows Evey, a dedicated daughter who has put her dreams of setting sail on hold to take care of her ailing mother. Afraid her daughter will miss out on her destiny, Evey’s mother Ms. Maria tasks Evey with delivering a message to her father, the notorious pirate Captain Eagle Eye, confessing a lie she told that has kept him away at sea all these years. Burdened by the truth, will Evey miss her chance to discover what’s on the horizon?
"I wanted to write a pirate themed musical, NOT a musical about pirates.I want to use this free to sail lifestyle to remind us all that we can choose to be free from the tides that bind"

The allure of pirates in the fictional sense is something that always finds its way into my heart. My favorite movie franchise is Pirates of the Caribbean, and my favorite anime is One Piece. These two mediums depict pirates as the villains we fear and the heroes we admire. Our pirates are judged, feared and hated due to the nature of their way of life, but in reality, they are the part of the story responsible for showing us all the ways that make life worth living. A life at sea, though treacherous and unpredictable, allows one to experience true freedom, forced to let go of the idea of control as the elements will do as they must, unable to survive without leaning on others, in a constant state of grace for not yet reaching the destination as the journey itself is just as, if not more, satisfying. These are the people we admire and the pirates of our story.
Musical theatre combines two true passions of mine: music and storytelling. The first musical I saw was the film adaptation of RENT by Jonathan Larson; a show, to this day, I credit as the sole motivation and turning point leading me to where I am today. Through music and storytelling, we learn to connect with strangers and the people we love, we feel deeper, we find new ways to communicate our experiences and share in the experiences of others, we discover new meaning and are forever impacted. Musical Theatre is not something meant to be universally loved by all, but instead is meant to show us how a dance, a song, or a lyric can help us progress and allow us to move forward in our story. Without the words and songs of Jonathan Larson, there would have been generations and cultures without a voice. I aim to continue to tell impactful stories to push humanity forward.
